Mirinda has now decided it's a good idea to advertise "New Mirinda Orange".
But Mirinda's already an orange drink, you say.
No, no, this drink's USP is...
*drumroll*
real fruit flavour!
Sheesh.

Welcome to my world Thomas. I shudder at the thought of working in this industry 10 years from now. Its sure to turn me into a bitter resentful has-been writer.
The standard of advertising in India ranges from the good to the painfully atrocious... and guess which one is prevalent.
Seriously, though, this was just a bad marketing decision. I mean, really?
No but in all seriousness, Mirinda and Fanta and all these flavoured drinks are trying to reposition themselves as not just orange drinks. They're changing their branding strategies to sub brands - Mirinda Orange, Mirinda Citrus, etc. Maybe they're not going about it the right way, but there's a conscious global effort to eradicate the misconception that Mirinda's a primarily orange drink.
Mirinda tried this some time ago when it introduced Mirinda Lime.
I'm all for it, but I just think it's amusing that they're pitching the idea of introducing actual fruit into the drink like it's a revolutionary new concept. :)
they probably want to make it look 'healthy', since that's the fashion now. You must try out Minute Maid's 'Pulpy Orange' though. It is as good as the name is bad.
Gah. I cannot imagine people seriously drinking it and going, "Oo! Pulpy!"
But it IS pulpy!
And let me warn you beforehand... Mirinda Sorbet is the most disgusting soft-drink in the market.
I know. Somebody at work bought it and six of us had to take sips of it to finish the damned thing because none of us could bear to drink the whole bottle of it.
If I had been the guy in the Sorbet ad, I would have fallen into the manhole.
That would have made a better ad also - the guy so engrossed in his drink that he falls into the manhole. Then at least, people wanting strage experiences in their lives (like falling into manholes) would buy the damn drink.
Couldn't they just fall into a manhole without the drink?
I'd think it was bad enough falling in without having to drink that nonsense first.
You have been tagged, btw.
Eeks, it's pulpy?
crabby crabby crabby.
